  • The only extra fee is the pick-up to and from the Rifugio if you can't drive up yourself or if you don't want to hike.

To drop you off and pick you up from the train station in Sondrio is €60,-. If you come to Arquino it's €50,-.

If we can combine this with other guests, which we'll happily try and arrange, you can divide the cost.

There's also the option to buy some local wines or our merchandise.

  • We mostly cook vegetarian meals with our homegrown vegetables. We love cooking with fermented vegetables too and are proud of our home made stinging nettle beer. The things we can’t grow ourselves, come from our local farmer friends or is foraged.

We’ll be happy to cook a traditional local dish for you, but the next day you can expect a curry, noodles or a Belgian dish.

  • As non-alcoholic drinks, we make our own kombucha and honestly, the tap water straight from our mountain spring is pretty delicious.

As an aperitif we’re happy to offer you a cocktail like a Negroni, Aperol Spritz, our own twist of Gin-Tonic. For dinner we’ll serve wine from a small cantina, or beer. We happily offer you a nightcap by the fire. (All included in the price).

If you’d rather have a bottle of champagne to celebrate a birthday, a fancy whisky for an anniversary or a good bottle of wine just because, we do have it. However, this will cost you a little extra.

  • Everything. And nothing. There’s a big variation of hikes, nice swimming spots, amazing views, foraging possibilities, and so much more.

But mostly the rifugio is a hidden paradise, far from the outside world, where you can get away from everything.

  • Unfortunately not. However much we love animals, and have our own, it just isn’t practical.

The forestale police is very strict too, because of the abundance of wildlife everywhere.

  • We offer a 50% discount to children under the age of thirteen, so €75,- per night. From then on it’s €125,- if they stay in the same room as the parents.

  • Sure. But there’s plenty to do in our valley, you know. And the problem is getting down from our mountain and back up.

But we sure can try arrange transport down and up at a reasonable cost.

  • If you have a 4x4, yes.

Because this is a private road, you will need a permission slip to drive up here. We can arrange a permission slip for you, just get in touch.

  • Every season is the best season.

Honestly, winter can be quite challenging. The road is not easily accessible and you may be quite confined once you get here. The risk of avalanches makes the amount of hiking possibilities limited. But it actually ads to the secluded feeling, the adventure, the challenge.

Every season comes with its challenges and unique perks.

Go sleighing in winter, try to find deer antlers in spring, go for endless hikes in summer and forage mushrooms in fall.

  • Unfortunately, yes. 😊

Unless there’s a week without sun, then no. We depend on a solar panel for our relay station. So if it’s cloudy for a long time, our WiFi becomes a bit wonky. Also not all rooms get a strong signal.

Reach out if you have any questions.

  • In our neighboring valley, the Valmalenco, there is a small ski resort. If all goes well, it’s about a 45 minute drive from the Rifugio. But keep in mind that our road can be tricky. Specially in winter time.

  • The different rooms have different sleeping situations.

The East-room has an extra bunkbed for friends or children. The Studio a sofa-bed.

But all rooms (except the Studio) offer beds that can comfortably be put together, or easily apart.

Friends, lovers, brothers and sisters. We accommodate.

  • Unfortunately, no.

Although we kept the name ‘Rifugio Val di Togno’, officially we are a Forresteria.

This means we can only provide food and drinks for our sleeping guests.

We also run the Rifugio with just the two of us, so running a restaurant on the side doesn’t seem feasible.

  • If you rent the entire Rifugio with a group, it definitely is an option. We’ll do the groceries for you, daily bring Wout’s fresh sourdough bread and granola, stock up the fridge and clean.

Be sure to get in touch for more information.

  • We suggest checking the weather on 3BMeteo, location: Spriana or Caspoggio.

  • Good hiking shoes.

    That's it.

We have a few walking sticks, rucksacks, water bottles, slippers, towels, and anything else you may have forgotten at home.
